- cloth
- 70% cotton / 30% linen high–density parachute cloth woven on a wooden shuttle-loom in Shizuoka, Japan. This garment is first hand-dyed using Indian indigo before being folded and clamped between wooden boards in the Itajime shibori method. Next it is dyed in a tannin–rich dye bath made from the bark of local Sharinbai wood, which then reacts to immersion in iron–rich mud, dorotetsu. This garment has undergone 25 cycles of this Dorozome (mud–dyeing) to achieve great depth of colour. Woven in Shizuoka and hand–dyed by Kanai Kougei in Amami–Ōshima.
